sale picks

it's sale time, kids! every 2nd email i've been getting lately is titled with 'further reductions', 'up to 70% off' & 'extra 20% off already reduced items'. it's unavoidable to not click on one of those little links that will take you to pages and pages of high street fashion at even cheaper prices to luxury fashion at just affordable prices.

here's a couple of things i picked up;

alexander mcqueen metallic pouch from ssense.com $68, asos suede strappy sandals from asos.com $36, celine sunglasses from matchesfashion.com $130

now, the only downfall to shopping on sites like ssense or matches is that shipping can cost half as much as your purchase. so get together with a friend or a few and share an order to split the cost of shipping :)

i've got a few more cheap thrills travelling across the atlantic to share with you over the next couple weeks. one of which is from boohoo.com with a further 20% off everything code; 20AUSTV.

holiday essentials

so it's 3 weeks till i go on a shopping, eating and relaxing spree in asia.

can. not. wait.

here's what i got the other day to go in my packing;
- more bikinis to add to my swimsuit wardrobe. i always get a couple new pairs each summer because they're fun, cheerful & the epitome of summer. especially when they come in so many delicious prints!
- silk printed nighties. this is my third one and i've somewhat made it a ritual to get a new one each time before i go on a holiday. i love them. they're pretty, a little luxe and comfortable. 3 birds, 1 stone!

top valleygirl $31, bottom left tempt on sale $17, bottom right tigerlily bottom from sample sale $20 orange triangle top bought years ago

collette dinnigan silk chemise rrp $89.95, sale $34.95 from david jones, MOR lychee blossom soap & marc jacobs daisy both available from david jones, string of fresh water pearls from the markets

a knock off tribute

so i was running some errands in the city today when i stumbled across a shoe store that had a massive 'closing down' sign and '$5 shoes' sign. so i walked in, as one would when faced with shoes for $5. at first it was a little disappointing as the $5 shoes were plastic and very unfortunate looking, but at the very back of the store there was a wall of ysl tribute sandal copies.

now i would usually steer clear of blatant designer copies, but when it comes to shoes i just don't see the point of paying hundreds & thousands of dollars for something that gets scuffed on the ground. not to mention that they are usually not very comfortable and the price per wear is terrible - i've learnt my lesson from the dior shoes i've bought and worn for literally less than 5 hours.

so here they are in all it's fake glory;

topshop down under

topshop sydney is set to open it's doors on the 4th of october at 9am. needless to say, there will be a hoard of girls lining up to buy overpriced highstreet english fashion (in comparison to the prices they charge in their motherland).

if you can't wait that long and/or do not want to pay for the additional taxes and shipping costs for them to bring the product to australia, just shop it online! here's what i got a couple weeks ago;

market to market

markets are always a good place to find unexpected bargains both new & pre-loved. the only downfall is that it's sometimes a bit of a hit and miss. last weekend however, it was definitely a hit for me at the glebe markets in sydney. The key to getting the most bang for your buck is bargaining - just like how it's done in asia.

l-r new metallic leather sandals w braided neon ankle cuffs asking: $55 paid: $45, new neon orange neck plate asking: $12 paid: $7, new handmade resin bangles in turquoise & orange w gold flakes + ring asking $32 paid $27, vintage leather shorts & below pre loved lover dress asking $40 paid $30. (click on images to enlarge)

glebe markets is held every saturday from 8am-4pm and can be found on the corner of derby place and glebe point rd, glebe.

add a little gorman to your day

gorman is a super cute brand with prices that don't always agree with your wallet. it's great when they go on sale at the end of a season because you can often snap up their pieces for half the price. it's even better when they have a clearance outlet with prices slashed up to 90% off!

clearIT designer outlet carries gorman amongst other brands like alannah hill, princess highway + more and they currently have an extra 20% off the marked price for a limited time. here's what i managed to dig up

gorman canvas & leather sandals rrp $99 on sale for $20 less extra 20% off = $16!

organic cotton tank top rrp $69 on sale for $10 less extra 20% off = $8!

the waiting game

i've been shopping online quite a bit lately. urban outfitters recently had free international shipping, which almost always lures me to place an order. the downfall to international online shopping is that the delivery can sometimes take up to 2 weeks to arrive depending on which site you bought from.

my order finally came today :) here's one of the few things i got -

citrus suede leather bucket bag on sale for $25 USD less 10% with promo code: NEWSKOOL valid til end of Sept

the free international shipping has finished now, but they offer free shipping with all orders over $50 USD, which is easily achievable! if you can't fill the quota on your own, combine an order with a friend :)

practical accessorising

Now why would anyone pay $2,480 for a Hermes watch when you can get a Michael Kors one that will achieve the same practical yet stylish result at a mere $279? Now, you may debate that the Hermes is better quality being Swiss made and all. Or that it's of a much higher calibre brand, but is it really $2201 more worth of quality and brand? With the $2201 you save, why not invest in a whole new Summer wardrobe?

Please excuse the dodgy photo taken by my Nokia E71, which I do NOT recommend, unlike the Kors watch - my camera is currently on loan.
